The Baseball School Instructors

Nat Ballenberg

Nat played his high school baseball at West Morris Central where he was an infielder and pitcher.   During his senior year in 2003, Nat earned all-area honors as a pitcher.  He played his college ball at Haverford College, where he ranks among the all-time leaders in strikeouts per nine innings.  After his college career, Nat signed a professional contract to pitch in the inaugural season of the Israel Baseball League.  In his first season of pro baseball, Nat led the league in appearances and plans on returning next summer for his second season.  During the off season, Nat is currently working as the pitching coach for Linden High School

Ralph Dinizo

Ralph is the not only the owner of  The Baseball School, but he is also  the Director of the Hitting Program at The Baseball School. Ralph graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in Scotch Plains, NJ. He played his college ball at Arizona State University. Ralph has been mentoring, coaching, and instructing since 1993. He has sent the majority of his students to Division 1 and Division 2 colleges with a variety of scholarships.

Gary George

Gary has been coaching and instructing baseball and softball in Middlesex County since 1984. He is considered to be one of the best softball hitting instructors in the area. Gary is the father of three.

Lauren Lopez

Lauren was an All State, All County and All Area softball player for John F. Kennedy High School in Iselin, NJ (1995-1999).  During her freshman season, Lauren was a perfect 13-0.  During her time at JFK, Lauren had more then 40 wins and over 575 strikouts.  Lauren currently holds the school's two-year varsity strikout record (274), the single season strikeout record (150), and the ERA record (1.34).  During high school Lauren also played for the Central Jersey Mustangs during the summer seasons.  After playing at JFK, Lauren went on to play collegiate softball at Division 1 Monmouth University.  Lauren has worked a number of softball clinics and has given private pitching instruction to player of all ages for years.  Lauren has been working at TBS for 3 years and currently teaches 4th grade in South Plainfield.  

Sharon Miller

During her four year career atEdison High School, Sharon led Edison to back to back Group 4 State Championships in 1990 and 1991.  At Edison Sharon was 1st team All-Division and All-County for four years and 1st team All-State for three.  Sharon currently holds the records for most career RBI's with 128 at Edison High.  After high school, Sharon went on to play as a scholarship athlete at Rutgers University (1993-1996).  As a freshman, she was voted team Rookie of the Year and Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year.  In 1994, Sharon led her team to an Atlantic 10 Conference Championship and an NCAA Regional bid.  Sharon was voted to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Division team 3 years and the All-Big East Conference team her senior year (Rutgers switched to the Big East Conference in Softball in 1996).  Sharon was also voted to the North East Region All-American team in 1994 and 1995.  She currently holds the career record for RBI's (145), Doubles (51), and At Bats (645).  Sharon also holds the single season record for RBI's (43), and hits (54) while holding a .330 career batting average.  Sharon has worked a number of softball clinics and has been giving private instruction to players of all ages for years.

Carl Lorelli

Lorelli played his high school baseball in the shore conference for Middletown High North.  During his junior year, Lorelli helped lead his team to a Monmouth County Championship in 1995.  In his senior year, Loreilli was selected to 1996 Shore Conference All-Star Team.  After playing high school, Loreilli received a scholarship to play for Division II Bloomfield College. In his two years, Loreilli helped lead his team to a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Title (CACC). During that same year Loreilli was selected an All-Conference player in the CACC.  During his junior year, Loreilli transferred to Ramapo College.  In his senior season Loreilli was named Captain of the Ramapo baseball team.  After finishing his career at Ramapo, Loreilli joined the Cranford
Baseball Program as a coach in 2001 and has been coaching at the high school level for 3 years.  Loreilli also is a teacher at the high school level at Lincoln School in Cranford.

Ray Navarrete

Ray played his high school baseball at Marlboro High School.  He left the Marlboro program in 1996 as an All Conference (Shore), All-County (Monmouth), and 1st All-State Selection, as well as Marlboro's single-season record holder in Batting Average (.547). Navarrete played his collegiate ball at Seton Hall University (96-00).
There, Navarrete led the Pirate program to a 40 Win season and NCAA regional appearance during the 2000 season.  Navarrete left the Hall as one of the most successful hitters in program history. 
In 2000, Navarrete signed professionally with the Pittsburgh Pirates. His best season in the Pirate Organization came in 2002, where he played for the Lynchburg Hillcats (Class High A) of the Carolina League. There, Navarrete led the league in Hits (169), and second in Batting Average (.318), and doubles (41). In 2003, the Pirates invited Navarrete to partake in Major League Spring Training during the final 2 weeks of camp.  Navarrete experienced one of his greatest personal highlights, during the Pirate-Yankee game.  Navarrete was put into the game in the 8th inning, and got an at-bat against Yankee closer, Mariano Rivera. Navarrete spent 2006 season in the Mets organization between Triple-A Norfolk, and Double-A Binghamton. That winter, Navarrete received the opportunity to play winter ball in Puerto Rico with well known Major Leaguers, Juan Gonzalez, Rey Ordonez, and Yadier Molina. In 2007, Navarrete was named a mid-season and post-season All-Star with the Long Island Ducks. Navarrete completed the season by breaking the Atlantic League Record for Doubles, and leading the league in doubles, extra-base hits, and runs scored, while finishing 4th in hits (144). Navarrete also set franchise records for the Long Island Duck organization for Doubles (42), extra base hits (62), runs scored (104).

In all, Navarrete has completed his 8th season of professional baseball.  During his time as a professional, Navarrete has played as high as Triple A (New York Mets), and Major League Spring Training (Pittsburgh Pirates).  Navarrete has also played professional baseball internationally, in Puerto Rico and Mexico. Personally, Navarrete is the Co-Founder/Co-Owner of Digmi Clothing Co., one of the nationís most exciting and promising clothing companies.  
    

Andy Kindler

Andy played at Cranford High School during the 1999-2000 seasons. While he was playing, Cranford won two Union County Championships (including Cranford first ever Union County Crown, 1999), 2 North Jersey Section 2, Group 3 Championships and the North Jersey Championship (2000).  During his Senior year (2000), Andy helped lead his team to the State Finals and was selected an all county and all section player. Since then Andy has coached Cranford Tournament teams and has worked a number of Baseball Camps. Andy is an outstanding hitting instructor and does defensive work at The Baseball School. Andy is also one of the coaches on the TBS Fall Baseball Staff. 

Angel Navarrete

Angel played his varsity baseball at Cranford High School during the 1999-2000 seasons. During those two seasons Angel helped lead Cranford to a pair of Union County Championships (Cranfordís first Union County Crown, 1999)       2 Section Championships and a North Jersey Championships (2000). In his senior year at Cranford, Angel was rated as one of the top defensive shortstops in New Jersey, committing only 2 errors. Also in 2000, Angel pitched Cranford into the Group 3 State Final game. Angel posted a career mark of 12-1 at Cranford and in 2000 Angel was named an All State, All Group 3, and 1st team All-County player for Cranford as a pitcher/shortstop. He continued his collegiate career at nationally ranked Pitt Community College in North Carolina where he played second base. In his freshman year Angel helped lead Pitt to a 40 win season. After two years at the North Carolina school Angel transferred to Ramapo College where he is currently ranked among the all time leaders in saves and strikeouts in a single season. During his senior season at Ramapo, Angel was either 1-2 on the Ramapo Staff in ERA, Innings Pitched, Wins, Saves, Strikeouts and Batting Average Against. Angel currently teaches in the Cranford Achievement Program, and is currently one of the coaches in the Cranford Baseball program.  Angel is also the Head Coach and director of both the Middle School and High School Fall Ball Programs at TBS.
